This week, I’ve been having a wonderful time working with silks and embroidery threads to make a series of one-of-a-kind brooches, each in the shape of a heart.
I’m delighted to be able to offer this one as a give-away, a small token of thanks to you for stopping by.
It’s a slighly asymetric heart, with a birdie and the words ‘fly away’. Its richly stitched, both by hand and with free motion machine embroidery.
Quite large, It measures 3 and a quarter inches by 3 and a half inches.
Here’s what to do if you’d like to win:
RULES
1. Please leave a comment on this post on or before the 31st August, saying either what you would wear it with, or what you would do with it if you won. 2. The winner will be chosen at random and announced on the 1st September. 3. The winner will need to clam their prize by the 5th September, otherwise a new winner will be chosen at random. All decisions are final. 4. To foil spammers, only entries conforming to the rules will be considered genuine.P.S.
Good Luck! As this blog is a new kid on the block your chances of winning are probably very good… but please feel free to spread the word ;-)

I really want to enter this- the swallow is so lovely. I just need more time to think of a reason/item of clothing…maybe I will have to imagine one up for this…I re-tweeted so hopefully some more people will enter.

this little bird encapsulates my spirit, every now and then I want to fly away….but am very grounded by my
family and work responsibilities. If I was lucky enough
to win it it would remind me that we are all little birdies at heart and want to spread our wings!
I would use it to clasp my shawl together.

I would give this to my sister, she has just come through a very troubled time and I am so very proud of her.
I think it would gladden her heart!!

I adore your creations – the brooch is lovely. I would put it on my denim jacket – something I wear with just about everything! But maybe I would give it to my sister who is moving so very far away to Alaska… Jamie V in MT

I will wear it on my new dress—wow—lovely.

I think I’d wear it sewn on to a plain cardigan, to brighten it up. It would also remind me to keep on crafting myself, and not to fritter away my time when I could be sewing/knitting. I’d tell myself ‘you too could produce something people might covet if you get working’.
I hope your new blog does well. There are so many good blogs out there it’s an effort to get noticed, isn’t it? Fingers crossed. :-)

I would frame it and proudly display in my home office as a lovely reminder that sometimes you need to consider stepping away from the less creative tasks of the day. I would also turn it into an avatar on Twitter because it’s just so appropriate (giving you credit of course). It’s easy to love your heart pendants. This one especially. Adorable!

i’d love to win this – i’d keep it for myself and i’ve just seen this gorgeous denim coat i’m itching to buy, the brooch would look perfect on it, so i hope i win!

Julia, first, what a beautiful brooch!
I’d love to keep it if I won but I firmly believe if you are fortunate enough to win a little you gotta pass a bit on so…….
I would probably give it to my daughter Rebecca to dress up one of her lovely jackets.
Or….mmmmm?? just wear it myself :D
